    The Level 10 GT

When changing the color of a chassis you have to consider everything that attaches to the case.  For me I knew that painting the plastic parts was off the table however, the metal mesh used to decorate the case was quite accessible.  You can find this mesh all over the case including behind the plastic bits for the hard drive trays and across the top of the case near the front panel controls.

The side panel features a large 200mm cooling fan that blows across a set of plastic louvers.  This will direct the airflow above or below where it would normally exit but never worked that well.  I never liked the louvers and figured I woudl replace the entire assembly with a side window that solve the problem.

For a mainstream chassis the Level 10 GT comes with a ton of internal wiring and places to run wires.  The rubber grommets seen here would get removed along with the hard drive cage located to the right.

Now that everything has been planned out we need to start breaking the case down into several parts.

    • Parts we’re going to keep
    • Parts we are going to mod
    • Parts we are going to paint.

It was around the time that I decided that a custom side window was going to be out of the question
