    Conclusion

Testing coolant is a lot like reviewing a monitor or sound system.  Some of parts of the review are subjective and based on the experience of the reviewer while other aspects can be backed by facts.  I can honestly say that based on my experience the Modwater is a great coolant that I would trust to put into my 24/7 machine.  It has very low odor, is easy to clean up and, offers great color with little to no performance impact on my system.

Of course my 24/7 rig is a mixed metal loop featuring nickel plated blocks on both my CPU and GPU with a copper Black Ice Nemesis 280GTX and XSPC D5 Photon pump res.  Because of this I prefer to have a little glycol in my loop to keep things nice and shiny and want a coolant that is non-staining to make fluid changes quick and easy.

In this review we focused on the Modwater Red UV and were able to test both the color rendering and UV reactance of the fluid.  How the fluid reacts will depend largely on your loop configuration as you can see from the photo.  PETG hardline on the left, Glass res in the middle and Tygon tubing on the right.

Once the loop was drained there were no signs of color being left behind or damage to the components.  I simply rinsed the loop with distilled water and was ready to move on.

A note on Glycol and PETG
It is a common fact that PETG tubing has a weakness against glycol at certain concentrations and is why automotive antifreeze shouldn’t be used on PC loop that uses PETG tubing.  Both the Thermaltake C1000 and Modwater tested in this review contain glycol and are both deemed PETG compatible with their current concentrations.  Our test loop showed no signs of PETG fogging or damage which is good enough for me.

According to ModMyMods they can also make a custom blend of Modwater that will support other loop configurations including those with aluminum parts and subzero cooling.  You just need to contact them in advance and let them know what you need.
