    Overclocking Results

As with all of our reviews, we pit the default speed system against the overclocked one in a head-to-head byte match.  The effective overclock is 5.15GHz @ 49x multiplier and 105 BLCK.  CPUz reported 5.133Ghz which seems to be normal after the micro calculations have been completed.

    Overclocking Conclusion
We didn't spend much time tuning the Core i7 4930K on Single Stage since we had over a year to mess with the LGA 2011 platform.  We already knew what voltages to set and basically wanted to find out the maximum stable speed using the cooling method provided.  Based on these results we have mixed feelings about the chip.  On one hand we feel we could get more from the processor using LN2.  On the other hand we know that Sandy Bridge-E had a nasty cold bug around -36c which is also close to the phase head temperature of a standard Single Stage chiller.  LN2 will soak up more wattage but the frequency gains we got were minimal and on the order of 200Mhz +/-

The charts speak for themselves when it comes to performance, sadly unless you have a Single Stage Phase cooler the target frequency in this section might not be realistic in a 24/7 situation.  Still for weekend benchmarking a quick frequency jump like this goes a long way.

Keep in mind that your overclocking adventure will likely vary from ours.  We are happy to say that we got a decent overclock from this processor with a very respectable amount of core voltage.  Overall memory bandwidth is quite good due in part to the 2200Mhz memory frequency.
