As computer hardware enthusiasts there are some things that we just take for granted.  For instance, we learned a long time ago how to handle electronics, some of that experience came from books or asking people questions and other times it came from the school of hard knocks.  In either situation, most of this experience was acquired long before system builders started abusing the RMA process and when you had to own your mistake and actually learn how to properly handle expensive electronic components.

Additionally, the Hardware Asylum and Ninjalane websites were never a front for “doing computer work” for people and I am a firm believer that teaching someone how to do things is really for the best.  It shows that folks are eager and have a willingness to learn.  Those who are looking for handouts are often the reason why there are strict RMA rules and also why a certain subset of the DIY PC World ALWAYS complain about having to RMA something.

The point is, if YOU are always having to RMA something it isn’t your bad luck, the problem is between the keyboard and chair, aka YOU.

Which brings me to why this episode is so much fun.  Just to mix things up we decided to dig through the Hardware Asylum Mailbag and find some obscure computer hardware questions and answer them here on the podcast.  These people took the time to actually ask a question and some of them are pretty good.

We did this a couple times before back with Episode 7 and Episode 14.  Crazy huh?!?
