    Install and Conclusion

To test the installation, we used the same beautiful matching Gigabyte Z97X SOC Force Overclocking motherboard we used in the Base 800 review to help show the difference in space.  The heatsink is a typical generic dual tower 120mm based unit we keep around the labs.

The SOC Force motherboard is pretty representative of the type of ATX motherboard we would expect to see in a case like this.  With eth heatsink in place you can see just how tight the top spacing can be.

The smaller chassis size means only 7 PCI slots though ample venting is provided.  It also means the cable management is a bit more limited.

The matching grommets work great but be prepared to run as much as possible behind the motherboard to hide form that window.  Bring your cable ties!

This angle also shows the height of the heatsink.  The Base 600 supports heatsinks up to 170mm though it is just begging for water-cooling or at least an AIO unit to reduce noise without compromising the sound signature.

    Conclusion

Our second outing with a be quiet! case shows there is still a lot of mileage in the tank!  The Base 800 really feels like a more mainstream offering that doesn’t compromise from the promise of performance and quiet operation. I love the oversized window and the black and orange color scheme.

There are some compromises in the smaller more affordable design but they are more than balanced by the noise reduction technology in place here.  I can easily see paring this case with a good hybrid power supply and a modest but quiet water setup and forgetting the case is even in the room!

You have to plan a little more when approaching a silent build but the results will have you smiling for a long time.
