    Introduction

Anyone who has shopped for computer hardware has seen custom partial keyboard designs that were intended to replace a dedicated keyboard and only provide the keys you need for most games.  These have been around for years and have met with different degrees of success and acceptance.  My opinion is that they just add one more gaming accessory that may or, may not be any better than what you already have.

MadCatz, one of the premier gaming accessory makers was showing the STRAFE, an adjustable one-handed magnetic gaming keyboard.  If that name is a mouthful, just wait until we get to the long list of features.

This gaming accessory is designed to be Compact, Ergonomic and adjustable and is borrowing heavily from the RAT mouse designs where just about every panel could be adjusted to perfectly match how the gamer wanted to use their mouse.

STRAFE, like the new RAT mouse designs features Tri-mode connectivity allowing it to be connected via wired USB, 2.4Ghz Wifi or BlueTooth.  It comes with 27 programmable buttons with a shift mode for expanded commands.  The rechargeable battery gives you up to 80 hours of playtime when connected over wireless.

In terms of hardware the STRAFE will be available in two key switch configurations including a traditional mechanical switch and a Magnetic switch providing 40 adjustable variable actuation points for extreme control over what the switch does and how much movement needs to happen to trigger a key press.  There should also be enough memory onboard to store up to 5 profiles allowing gamers to configure the STRAFE for multiple games.
