MSI Lighting Z is Back and on Display During CES 2026
Author: Dennis GarciaIntroduction
There are legendary computer products in the enthusiast hardware world. Some take the form of motherboards designed for LN2 overclocking while others might support powerful features like SLI and RGB effects. These all pale in comparison to the impact the MSI Lighting series of video cards had on the computer hardware industry. This line of video cards started the trend for creating top of the line products that not only came with healthy and dynamic factory overclocks but, were designed to push the performance to the limit with appropriate cooling and smart frequency and voltage adjustments.
In fact, there was an entire overclocking competition centered on the MSI Lighting called the Master Overclocking Arena and sponsored by MSI.
During CES 2026 MSI was showing a new and extremely limited edition video card called the RTX 5090 Lightning. This card stays true to the name and legacy offering a completely custom and overbuilt PCB combined with a 360mm AIO for cooling and a large LCD screen.
This special edition graphics card is also limited edition with each card being numbered and coming in a very large and elaborate box.
Each card will require a system that can support dual 12VHPWR power cables which can be provided by a dual powers supply setup or a special power supply with dual 12VHPWR connections like the beQuiet Dark Power Pro 13 that I recently reviewed.
