Modern RetroPC Chassis from SilverStone shown during Computex 2025
Author: Dennis Garcia
Introduction
Those who have been following what I do at Hardware Asylum (and Ninjalane) will know that I have a soft spot for retro machines, namely PCs from the 90’s and early 2000’s. So, it will be no surprise at how excited I am at the latest product from SilverStone, the FLP-02

This retro inspired computer case is quite amazing and extremely bold. The first thing you will notice is the unassuming beige that was common in the early PC era starting with the original IBM PCs and then carried forward for over twenty years. Most of us are happy to see the beige depart however, there is something nostalgic about it too.
Inside the case you will find a standard SilverStone chassis supporting a basement panel to cover the bottom mounted PSU, rear exhaust fan, support for 360mm radiators at the top and dual 120mm fans up front. There are provisions for a vertical GPU and at least three external 5.25” drive bays.
Yes, the external drive bay is back!
At the front you will find a familiar, and yet very different, control panel featuring a rocker power switch, system lock, reset button and turbo button. Hitting the turbo will disable PWM fan control and run your system fans at 100%. The dual seven segment display also changes with the turbo button position.
The iconic 5.25” drive bay covers are functional in that when you release the drive latch the bay cover will pop out. Sadly, these are only inspired by 5.25” floppy drives and not modeled after any particular drive style.

At the top you will find a hidden panel exposing USB ports and a single analog audio jack.
Honestly, I cannot wait to build my next LAN Party rig in the SST FLP-02!
While the retro revival chassis was the highlight of my SilverStone visit there were plenty of other things to see from high powered PSUs to an evolution update to the ALTA chassis, now with less modules and more distinctive style.

One of my favorite cases from Computes 2024 was the WS380-E was back on display and really is a perfect form factor for a high-end tower style workstation supporting extensive storage, AIO cooling and multiple GPUs making it a good match for an AI Workstation or even storage server.
