    Install and Conclusion

To test the installation we used a beautiful matching Gigabyte Z97X SOC Force Overclocking Motherboard coupled with a be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 Heatsink.

The Dark Rock Pro 3 Heatsink measures in at 150 x 137 x 163mm taking most of the available 170mm height.  It’s a larger unit and fits with room for the back fan to breathe.

Installing the Z97X SOC Force reminded me that no screws are needed for most motherboards due to the raised mounts.  It’s handy for quick installs but tends to make me nervous as a user regularly moving my PC.  I would use a set of non-conductive washers for peace of mind or motherboards with parts off the back at uneven heights.

The fit is nice with plenty of room around the motherboard to access the cable runs.  Our Z97X SOC Force is pretty representative of an ATX size so any choice should work.  It might be hard to find such a good color match though!

    Conclusion

Be quiet! May be new to the case design game but the Silent Base 800 looks great and is packed with features.  Just like you would expect from a case with silent in the name, the Silent Base 800 puts sound reduction first.  Fortunately the design really shines due to smart sound deadining and clever airflow management.  The rest of the design feels like a greatest hits collection of popular case design elements and that’s a good thing.

Overall the be quiet! Silent Base 800 case is a beautiful case packed with features that defy its first outing status.  If this is the silent case I cant wait to see the performance case!  It is still safe to say yiu cant go wrong with a be quiet! product.
