SilverStone FLP02 Retro Inspired MicroATX Case Review

The Computex tradeshow in Taiwan is an amazing showcase for computer hardware with everything from motherboards and video cards to enterprise hardware and the individual components required to make everything work.  During Computex 2025 the world was introduced to the SilverStone FLP02 as the first retro inspired computer tower with overwhelming acceptance.  I posted a review of that case back in December of last year and have since seen it used in both prebuilt and custom PCs.

During my visit with SilverStone during Computex 2026 I was introduced to the next installment in the retro series, the FLP03.  Like the FLP02 that I reviewed last year this case is designed to have a retro aesthetic common to computer towers from the 90’s while still retaining the convenience of a modern chassis.  While the FLP02 was extremely faithful to the source material the newer, and smaller, FLP03 takes things to a different level.

In this review we will be looking at the SilverStone FPL03 Retro inspired computer case.  Like the previous edition, the FLP03 is based on a another SilverStone chassis called the SETA X1M which is a shorter universal case supporting MicroATX, and smaller, motherboards and comes with three external drive bays.  Computer cases with externa drive bays are becoming increasingly rare along with the devices you would normally use them for.

Computers of the 90’s and early 2000’s would almost always be available in Beige.  Some say the color is a way to honor the original IBM PC or might have been the only cost-effective ABS plastic formula that wouldn’t spontaneously combust in the presence of poorly ventilated rooms full of cigarette smoke and shag carpet.  Either way, the color is iconic and while true Retro cases from the era would often yellow and deteriorate while the modern plastic found on the FLP03 will not.

The bezel design is very similar to the FLP02 with the same dashboard design and simulated 5.25” floppy drive bay cover.  Above the bay cover you will find vertical vented bay covers that mirror the intake vent design below.

Turing the case around exposes the MicroATX nature of the FLP03 with five expansion slots available.  While MicroATX motherboards have space to support 4 expansion slots there are plenty of graphics cards with four slot coolers leaving just enough space for airflow without compromising the design.

As with most modern cases, you will find the power supply location at the bottom of the case and a single 120mm fan location with slotted screw holes allowing you to reposition the fan as needed.
