Noctua NF-A14x25 Chromax.black 140mm Fan Review
Author: Dennis GarciaConclusion
It is sometimes difficult to write a review about a product that we have already seen, especially when that product is virtually identical to the previous. When you look at the specifications, they are identical, when you look at the included items, they are also identical and, when you teste the performance, it is just as great as it was before.
So, what makes the Chromax.black NF-A14x25 fans special?
First of all, the color. Black is still the most popular color when it comes to fans, mostly because the majority of them are, in fact, black. Having this color available will extend the market reach and make them more accessible to color sensitive buyers.
Next, the Chromax.black fans are also available with accompanying heatsinks and color accessories. Most of the Noctua heatsinks are released as exposed metal and built to be industrial works of art. The Chromax.black editions are the same designs but, in black.
Finally, Chromax.black features the current fan designs allowing for the same performance to be available in this alternative color. From a product standpoint I see this as a major win even if it does start to dilute what helped make Noctua popular to begin with.
Overall, I still feel the G2 fans are some of the best all-purpose fans on the market. They work extremely well when used on an AIO Radiator or aircooled heatsink where a variable PWM controller can change the fan speed to meet the cooling needs of your system. One thing to keep in mind is that, many PWM controllers are designed for less efficient fans, which may work in your benefit given that the NF-A14x25-G2 can move around 91 CFM when running at full tilt at only 1500 RPM.
Currently you can get these fans in single and dual fan packages to match most any system configuration.
