Ducky Cushion 98 Tri-Mode Mechanical Keyboard Review
Author: Dennis GarciaDucky Cushion 98 Layout and Features
The Compact 98-percent layout has become one of the most popular form factors among enthusiasts because it preserves the numeric keypad while reducing the overall footprint. The advantage being a more cramped layout by keeping your traditional ten-key functionality in a much smaller footprint.
Overall, the design looks sharp with what looks like the same high-quality PBT keycaps found in the OK-M series. That means the same endless key cap customization options you would expect from premium MX-compatible stems.
I do like the accent colors that bring some personality to the design. As FPS gamer I still wish I could swap out the WASD keys with a suitable accent color as well.
One of the strengths of the Cushion 98 is that Ducky has designed customization into the foundation of the keyboard. The included Shrush hot-swappable switches allow users to experiment with different switch types without the commitment of traditional soldered designs, while the Quick Latch system simplifies access to the internal components.
The Cushion 98 contains an internal rechargeable battery and supports wireless operation through both Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz modes. Charging is performed over the wired USB connection.
Not pictured is the included Grey Cushion to swap out as part of the Nest system. The installed black pad offers a softer typing experience while the grey cushion makes things firmer. I wonder if Ducky will offer more customized options in the future!
A set of runner feet on each corner kept things stable and with the risers can be set to two different heights to support your preferred typing angle. Notice the clever magnetic slot for the USB receiver just left of the feet above.
Also included are the USB C charging/data cable, some replacement switches, traditional matching keycaps, the wireless USB dongle, a keycap puller, a quick start guide, warranty documentation and the famous Ducky brush. The keyboard even comes in a simple fabric case to protect it for travel.
