Mad Catz M.M.O. 7+ Wireless Gaming Mouse Review
Author: Darren McCainSoftware and Conclusion
The Mad Catz HUD software suite is an all-new design for increased customization themed in a classy black and red. At the time of this review, we used the latest Version 1.0.27.
This software suite is both attractive and full of options. It is definitely one of the more complex systems I have seen. I would recommend tracking down a good video tutorial on settings and macros if you are a serious MMO player.
Selecting your device opens the Customize options. This is where you will assign all of those keys with virtually any functionality you can dream up including assigning macros to individual keys.
The Lighting menu is pretty basic and will only affect the front eye lights. With so much open space, it feels like a missed opportunity for some internal lighting.
Performance is full of fun options from setting your DPI presets to adjusting your Rotational Angle Adjustments. This is where that PixArt 3395 sensor really shines.
Not pictured are the Marcos and Profiles sections. As expected, the Macros are both robust and advanced but you can import and export to share with your crew! Profiles allows you to set up to five onboard profiles to suit your individual apps or even you MMO class loadouts.
I tested the MMO7+ across a couple of weeks that included a nice 4-day holiday (more gaming!). After some minor adjustments, playing games started to feel like putting on a favorite glove. The ability to make those minor changes made my grip more confident.
As a primary FPS gamer, I did find the extra buttons a bit harder to get used to. During Frantic gunfights in Battlefield 6 or Fortnight I still found I occasionally pushed the individual thumb keys by accident. There is a learning curve here that may require more time on the bench to master.
I have used a lot of high-end gaming mice in my time. Where those feel like a sleek sports sedan, the MMO 7+ feels like a customized off-road vehicle: layered panels, exposed lines, segmented surfaces, and a clearly mechanical personality.
When I compare the MMO7+ to other MMO mice I have used like the Razer Naga, the MMO7+ trades the simple thumb-grid style input for a more industrial, high-tech aesthetic that emphasizes power, customization, and presence over simplicity. It’s unapologetically bold—and for MMO players who like their gear to elevate their game, look and feel futuristic, complex, and purpose-built, that’s exactly the appeal.
