ROG X870 Crosshair Getting Extreme Treatment during Computex 2025

Introduction
At CES 2025 we caught a glimpse of the new ROG when ASUS announced the ROG Crosshair X870 Apex indicating that the coveted overclocking series is making the jump to the AMD platform. If that was not enough at Computex 2025 ASUS announced the ROG Crosshair X870 Extreme following in a long tradition of offering the highest end motherboards to the best platforms.
The new X870E Extreme features dual graphics card slots, 24 power stages on the VRM along with three onboard M.2 slots. Two more M.2 slots will be available on the Q-DIMM.2 expansion.

What I am especially excited about is the onboard LCD screen positioned over the I/O connector. This is one of the main reasons I went with the Extreme for my personal build and cannot wait to see how this all translates to the AMD Ryzen platform.
Other boards on display included the mainstream hero in both Intel and AMD trim.

As with most vendors at Computex there was a huge push to have Blackwell systems on display and this workstation was signed by Jensen as he was making the rounds.
Noctua and ASUS have been working closely to offer custom cooling solutions for high-end ROG products and this Astral 5080 is a prime example of that cooperation. This custom cooler features the new 120mm NF-A12x25 fans sitting atop of a Noctua designed aircooler for the RTX 5080.
The final item is something I am excited to see, Universal BTF support. This revised design allows ASUS to build a single PCB design that can both support BTF and non-BTF system builds.

With the power connector installed you can use this card on any ASUS BTF enabled motherboard and with it removed you are given the required clearance to use the card on a standard motherboard from any manufacturer.
