When you do something long enough there will come a time when things turn around full circle.  For Hardware Asylum and Ninjalane that would be the trade show in Taipei Taiwan called Computex.  The first show Dennis attended was in 2003 (after the SARS outbreak) and has since become an “almost” yearly endeavor.  One of the nice things about visiting a place multiple times is that you tend to develop friendships over the years that can often afford you opportunities that not everyone can experience.  In 2015 Dennis made a visit to the Kavalan Distillery in Yilan Taiwan.  By this time Kavalan has been making Taiwan Whiskey for almost 10 years and quickly became an award winning whiskey maker around the world.

Fast forward to 2025 and Dennis, yet again, visited the distillery and found an interesting bottle of 15-year four cask blended whiskey.  This is unique because Kavalan doesn’t normally do a blended whiskey and considering that whiskey matures faster in Taiwan due to the heat and humidity having a 15-year cask is quite rare.

So, we felt it would be interesting to look back at Computex 2010 and find out what was happening in the world of computers when this spirt was stored in barrels to being the aging process.

    Computex 2025 Part 1
For the Computex 2025 coverage we will be starting at the top and moving down a select list in alphabetical order to discuss what was on display.  Like in 2024, the show was driven by AI, so much in fact that companies were broken up by if they offered AI hardware or were just average making it really difficult for some vendors to get their normal location in Nangang Building 1.

At least the buildings are connected by an underground tunnel, in 2010 you would have to wait outside for a bus to drive you between Nangang and the World Trade Center, which is not as bad as it sounds but did get interesting when it was raining.
