For this episode the duo is doing another virtual unboxing of some mystery Retro PC hardware that a generous listener has sent in. In the previous episode the box contained a number of motherboards, processors, sound cards and even a couple video cards. By all accounts many would consider these to be “old pc hardware” but, they tell a story about the evolution of the PC hardware industry and are actually kinda fun to relive.
The care package this time around is a much larger box that contained a Gigabyte LGA 775 motherboard another ASUS nForce 650 SLI motherboard and a bunch of coolers including two Zalman 9900 radial style copper heatsinks.
Getting packages like this is really good fun either by having readers and listeners send them in or having random people email me saying they have a stash of gear prompting a cannonball style road trip. Either way they are stories to tell and most are actually quite entertaining.
