    Conclusion

In this review we looked at the Patriot VIPER LED DDR4 3200Mhz Dual Channel memory kit.  These are a new series of high-performance memory designed for modern DDR4 systems including the Intel 100/200/200 series chipsets and AMD 300 series motherboards.  Not only do the modules look good but are available in a multitude of speeds starting at 2400Mhz and extending up to 3600Mhz with timings between CL14 and CL16 depending on the kit and frequency.

It should be noted that there are two LED colors to choose from.  Red LED kits are available up to 3000Mhz while the White LED kits are quite a bit faster at 3600Mhz.  Most kits come in 16GB capacities with only a single Red LED kit being offered at 8GB.

As our benchmarks indicated these 3200Mhz modules showed nominal gains over some of the other modules in this review proving that there is a benefit to matching modules to a system.  However, in the real world many people would be hard pressed to notice any difference which brings up a point of efficiency and compatibility and making sure you pick modules that match your platform.

Performance and style are what set the Patriot VIPER LED memory modules apart.  I was able to easily overclock them to 3600Mhz without any voltage adjustments and only a minor decrease in memory timing.  In fact I left the XMP profile enabled and just let the system adjust the timings.  The end result was an effortless overclock with some rather noticeable performance increases.

For the most part heatspreaders offer a dual purpose.  The primary function is to be a decorative addon that not only looks good but also protects the module.  The secondary function is to absorb excess heat to help the chips maintain stability.  Under our overclocking adventure I did notice the module getting hot indicating that the heatspreader was doing its job.  In fact running faster than 3600Mhz was mostly unstable until I directed a fan over the modules.   That brought the temperature down and helped with stability testing.

    Good Things

    High Speed Modules
    Great Heatspreader Design
Available in speeds up to 3600Mhz
Black and White goes with Everything

    Bad Things

    Single XMP profile
    Only a single LED color
