In the ultimate of Hardware Asylum Podcast tiebacks the duo is looking back at a motherboard that set THE trend for onboard RGB lights that started a land rush to see just how far onboard RGB LED lighting could be pushed.  The MSI Z99A Godlike made headlines during Computex 2015 and for nothing more than its unique ability to deliver customized lighting through a Windows app.  We had seen LED lights on motherboards before, Abit started the trend with edge lighting which was later copied by board makers who added lighting effects and changed the color to match the board color themes.

Thing was, these lighting displays were static offering nothing more than some extra illumination similar to the LED fans that had recently fallen out of favor.  It would be interesting to do an exploration on the history of PC Based LED lights so, if you want to learn more about that let us know.

In this episode the duo is doing another virtual unboxing of the MSI Z890 Godlike motherboard.  This is an Intel based motherboard sitting at the top of the MSI MEG product offering and goes well beyond what you would normally find on a motherboard.
