Dennis likes to remind people that there are two types of PC hardware enthusiasts.

    • The first are those who build awesome machines after exhaustive research with plenty of time on the ground testing and tuning their hardware choices.
    • The second are those who always seem to break stuff and are usually found either abusing the RMA process or complaining that their RMA has been going poorly.

We all know people from both groups and if you work with computer hardware long enough you will encounter broken hardware and will have to decide if a warranty repair is needed.  Thing is, how do you determine what is broken??

In this episode Dennis goes over his process for diagnosing a non-functional PC.  Everyone follows a different process but if you start with the easy things first it will make the subsequent steps much easier.  That is unless you need to dismantle a DIY watercooling loop just to remove a sound card, that is a rather involved process with a very defined “point of no return”.
