Kickstarter has become an interesting platform to give inventors and creators a voice that may not be heard in normal circles. Many business owners will employ the “fake it until you make it” or “build it and they will come” but, really that is often an exercise in the many ways can you bleed money while starting a business. The common way around this is to seek out venture capitol or to find an angel investor to provide you the funds to make your dreams come true. Sometimes these work out while, more often than not, you are left with broken dreams and an empty pocketbook.
This is where Kickstarter can be exactly what creatives need to succeed in their goals while giving back to the very people who helped them along the way. It can also be a platform for established companies to use when they want to test the waters and see if there really is a demand for something or if the idea is just a passing fad.
Creative, the makers of the popular Sound Blaster line of audio devices have stared a Kickstarter campaign for the Re:Imagine Modular Audio Hub with AI.
This is a rather “creative” product that combines many popular items such as high-quality audio with external modular controls that can be re-programed to do just about anything from switching scenes in OBS to running a compile command or even playing retro DOS games. While it is a bit of a novelty, there is some demand behind the idea. For instance, Elgato has been offering their StreamDeck for years and has become rather popular with the online community and the MasterHub from Cooler Master appears to be an elusive competitor and, an example of being too protective of innovative products.
