Cooler Master Haf II 500 High Airflow Case Review
Author: Dennis GarciaCase Cooling
Over the life of the HAF series the cooling capacity has been slowly rising from the addition of a single 200mm fan to dual 220mm x 40mm fans moving up to 203cfm each. I am happy to see that the fans are security mounted with no gaps to the side or top. This will ensure that air pressure is pushed through the case instead of out the nearest gap.
The Mighty40 fans are made from high impact LCP material with the frames being made from PBT. These materials are used to ensure that the fan does not flex under operation to both improve performance and prevent excessive noise.
When it comes to cooling options the HAF II 500 supports a number of different options. From the factory you will get three Mighty40 fans, 2x 220mm up front and a single 180mm at the back.
With additional MasterRails the case will support up to 3x 120mm/140mm or 2x 160mm/180mm fans up front.
At the top of the case you will find total of 12 brackets with 6 on each side. On the left side the bracket can be moved inward to support different sized fans without needing to install MasterRails.
Interior clearance does become a concern especially when installing radiators so you will need to do some tests before committing to your build design.
As an example, I have a SilverStone 200mm fan that has a 180mm fan mounting pattern. I believe with some modifications these air movers will fit quite nicely.
To make sure your installed fans get the appropriate signals you will find a fan and ARGB hub at the top of the case with support for up to 6 devices. The placement of this hub might be the most annoying things about this case since it is right where you need to place your fingers to properly move the case with the panels removed.
You know, when you have the case open during the build process. ![]()
