Looki L1 Wearable AI Device Review

The Looki L1 is primarily controlled by a mobile app allowing you to curate images that have been captured and even read the journal entries it creates. During my testing the L1 firmware was updated every other day and did not interrupt anything I was doing.
From the app you can choose to enable or disable the AI Mode, capture a photo, record a video or even record audio. These clips are then saved to the Looki local storage and will remain there until you either delete them or push the data to the cloud. Of course, if you would rather have this done for you automatically, flip two switches and the app will take care of that for you.
In addition to the mobile app, you can activate these features from the Looki L1 device. Pressing the area below the camera will activate the voice mode where you can talk with your Looki device. I was using it to search for sandwich shops near me and even created a 30min reminder alert to drink some water. 30min later a voice alert triggered with my reminder.
When I tried to create a grocery list it exposed one of its current limitations. As you can imagine, the Looki L1 isn’t an agent. There is an agent running in the background but your interface is simply a chatbot used to create context and create data from the Looki L1. This is then processed in the background and if your grocery list isn’t selected to be good enough for retention it is quickly forgotten.
The final item that I discovered is what they call the Vlog Agent. This chat interface allows you to create specific moments from the collected data so you can focus on certain events that were recorded instead of relying on Looki L1 to know what to show. For instance, I asked it to show me more information about my evening Podcasting and I was provided some recorded moments to select. After that the cloud server did some processing and sent me a video of those moments set to music with text overlays. It was actually rather impressive but, there is only so much you can do with short video clips.
