    Roccat Kone Software

The software for the Kone's macro support, driver and controls are downloaded directly from Roccat's website.  Installation was a breeze, and in no time I had the software up and running and picking out some nice backlighting for the Kone.  The software offers five tabs of options to customize, and are well named to make moving through them fairly intuitive.  The five tabs are Main Control, Button Assignment, Advanced Control, the Roccat Achievement Display, and Support.   The Main Control tab handles the sensitivity and speed adjustments for all of the mouse movements and the scroll-wheel, as well as the sensitivity points for each of the five dpi settings from the adjustor switch.

The Button Assignment tab is where you'll find everything you'll need to adjust your bindings and macros.  The Macro manager button will help you with setup and record your macros and is pre-loaded with a list of popular titles to draw from.  The screen has two separate panels, the left panel for all of the normal mouse button functions, and the right panel for actions when the Easy-Shift button is pressed, effectively doubling your binding options.

The lighting colors and effects on the mouse can also be adjusted in Advanced Control tab.  For lighting, you can either choose from a pre-set color option, use the RGB input fields, or drag the crosshairs around on the RGB spectrum panel.  Effects are fairly limited, you have your choice of always-on, always-off, or a slow pulsing effect.  This menu also allows you to adjust the audio reminders to any changes you make to the settings such as adjusting your sensitivity, adjusting the volume, and changing profiles.

Something new offered for you achievement hunters out there is the new Roccat Achievement Display or RAD system.  If gives you stats on mouse usage, how far you've moved your mouse, how many times you've scrolled or clicked, and offers achievements over various milestones.  Currently it doesn't appear that there are any tangible benefits to the points accrued, except for bragging rights with the trophy sharing over social media.

Profile adjustment and editing are available at the bottom of every panel, and are saved to the Kone's onboard memory, so if for any reason the data on your drives are lost or you switch PCs, you'll only need to install the software to access them again.  Once in play, you have the option to associate each profile with the .exe launcher of the program you're building it for, and the profile will automatically activate as soon as you start the program.  There is also a Windows mode that you can preset as one of your profiles that the mouse will automatically default to if you window out, or close the program.
