    Conclusion

As we become more dependent on personal electronics the quality of the storage we use will change.  Taking digital photos on “any ole memory card” didn’t matter at one time because the camera was slow and the images it captured were pretty small.  However, action cameras and drones now feature high speed image sensors and to ensure the best performance you must use a fast storage card.

In this review we looked at the Lexar Professional 1066x microSD card.  This card has a UHS-I rating features a 3U speed rating and V30 video rating.  Combined this card is approved for 4k video recording and yet the card offers considerably better performance over the competition with 160MB/s Reads and 120MB/s Writes when you select a 256GB or larger card.

When compared to standard UHS-1 SD cards this is a 65MB/s gain in performance that you would normally find in the more expensive UHS-II class cards that also require UHS-II compliant equipment.

The Lexar Professional 1066x microSDXC card delivered amazing performance and worked extremely well in a variety of different devices from recording 4K 30fps video on a Sony FDR-AX53 to High-Speed and “Slow motion” capture on the same device.  4K video playback was flawless, even over USB 3.2 and the card was fast enough to allow video editing without copying to a dedicated SSD.

Combine that with the included SD adaptor and you get a extremely high performing microSD card that won’t limit you on performance or the number of devices it can be used on.
