More New Gear - Focusrite Scarlett 6i6

The boom arm allows you to move the shock mount assembly and position the microphone anywhere you need it which can be helpful if you tend to move around a lot.  Attaching the PSA-1 to your desk is quite simple and can be done either by using the included clamp or by drilling a hole in your desk and using the threaded mounting attachment.
Getting audio from your microphone into the computer was simple with the Blue Yeti however, with the Rode Procaster the familiar USB connection was replaced with a XLR which needs to be amplified and then converted into an output.  This is where an audio interface comes in.

Much like a dynamic microphone there are many opinions on which audio interface is the best and for the Ninjalane Podcast I went for the red one.  It just so happens that the red one is actually really good and made by a company called Focusrite.
I went thru two units.  The first was an older Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 which is a two input, two output audio interface.  It connected to the computer via USB and came with its own software.  Sadly it wasn't powerful enough to run the Procasters.

The 2i2 was then upgraded to the latest Focusrite Scarlett 6i6.  Not only is it more powerful but supports up to 6 inputs and 6 outputs making it considerably more versatile beyond recording two microphones for a garage bound computer podcast.
I'm still using the Asus Slate to record the podcast because it is extremely convenient, powerful and quiet.   It may not be overclocked but does feature a touch interface and can be hooked into external video displays.  Needless to say it has done its job flawlessly and my only wish is that Asus continues to make them.  (too late).

There is no telling how much better the Ninjalane Podcast will be using this new gear and we are fully expecting a steep learning curve but, as enthusiasts we often strive for the best and will go to great lengths to attain our goals.  These efforts often go unnoticed by the indiscriminate public but we know the value and is why we do what we do.
