    UEFI Features

The Gigabyte X79 lineup is the first motherboard featuring the new UEFI 3D BIOS and we have to admit, it is pretty slick.  The BIOS is laid out into two basic parts, 3D mode and Main Menu mode.  The default is 3D mode and shows a full overview of the motherboard with hotspots highlighting the different aspects you can change.  Clicking on these pulls up a menu with the options you can select.

These menus are accessible with a mouse or keyboard however we did have resolution issues with our mouse which pretty much forced us to use the keyboard and arrow keys for everything.
If you would like a more traditional look into the UEFI select one of the icons at the bottom and view the details in menu mode.  Keep in mind that this view will show you everything you can change where as 3D mode is selective to the most popular.
We do like the new UEFI though get the impression that there is still some work to be done.  For instance we had issues using our mouse to navigate the menus which prompted us to use the arrow keys for everything.  You also cannot select menu mode to be your default view,  Instead you must first enter 3D mode and move to the menus adding time and clicks to the process.
