Creative Pebble Nova Layout and Features

The Pebble Nova speakers are immediately identifiable by their round aesthetic but the Nova design elevates the series. At 149.2 x 150.8 x 153 mm (~6 inches) the Novas are not completely round but they look the part.

The secret to the new design is a Coaxial driver setup. This places the 3” woofer behind the 1” tweeter sharing the same axis so they can work together in such a small package. Each speaker weighs in at 1.89 kg or about 4.1 pounds.

The speakers connect via a thick USB-C cable that allows you to put the speakers about 6 feet apart. The cable is hard wired to the left, of primary speaker, and plug sun via a USB-C port on the right speaker.

Form the side you can see the spacing between the bronze woofer and the tweeter. A fine mesh surrounds the front cover with a much more open grill over the tweeter.

The back of each speaker is a passive radiator to help the woofers. These act as ports extending the lower frequencies produced.  The end effect is much more bass response than the woofers can produce alone. It’s like magic!

Onboard controls are across the top of the right speaker. these are touch controls and are slightly concave to help you find them.  From left to right: Multifunction LED, power, Volume down or up, connection select and RGB control.

Included connectivity options are: Bluetooth, 3.5 mm AUX-in and 2x USB-C. You also get a USB-C connector for the included power jack. The Nova uses USB-PD power to provide enough juice to hit that 100W peak power output.

Connectivity options are located on back of the right side with the power connector highlighted in Red.  Its pretty easy to skip the power adapter and try your PC plug but you won’t get enough power to run the Nova without the USB-PD source. Power is rated at 2 x 25W RMS and Peak Power: 100W.

There are connectors for your headphones and microphone on side of the right speaker behind a protective rubber cover. At the time of this review Creative has not yet enabled them in the firmware. Their site still says: “*The functionality of the headset and microphone ports will be made available at a later date through a firmware update.”

Creative provides a set of metal stands for the Pebble Nova speakers. These stands are quite heavy and elevate the speakers about 4 inches and provide slightly more of an angle mount. You will need to do some simple assembly.

I found that the stands were not necessary when I placed the speakers on my desktop but they do help the RGB located around the base to provide a pleasing ground effect lighting. However, I do think they look like a more expensive setup when assembled though.
