We have talked a lot about the new Intel Core i9 10900K and Intel Z490 motherboard launch over the past few episodes which was all leading up to this exciting deep dive and discussion into what makes the Maximus XII Formula special. Sure it is one of the high-end offerings in the ROG lineup and carries a $500 USD price tag but it is one of the few motherboards designed with the intention of DIY watercooling.
No, it doesn’t have a full coverage waterblock but does come with a watercooled VRM, monitoring ports for watercooling accessories and the option to install the EK-Quantum Momentum VRM Bridge that will connect an EK CPU block to the EK CrossChill VRM cooler without having to do any fancy tubing bends or buy an excessive amount of fittings.
The Quantum Momentum does feature 7 Addressable RGB lights and syncs quite well with the ASUS Aura motherboard lighting system giving your build that full coverage waterblock look without spending a fortune in heavy copper.
